Luca Battaglia was born in 1968 and raised in Biella, a small town in northern Italy. His interest in photography, moved him to Naples, where he began working as a photographer's assistant and where he met his mentor Salvatore Sparavigna, with whom he studied and developed his skills and techniques. Two years later, in 1990, he began his career as a professional photographer with the Fornass Agency in Naples, Italy. He began traveling, on assignment and freelancing, throughout Europe, the Middle East, India, USA and around the world in a sailing expedition, developing his personal style, inspired by the works of Sebastiao Salgado and Gianni Berengo Gardin.
